Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Do you also have a brick & mortar tea house?
TommysTea is currently an internet only vendor so that we can pass on the cost savings to the buyer. We do have plans and design ideas for a loose leaf tea lounge but this is still for the future as we focus on growing our quality product and online presence.
  2. Can I suggest a new loose leaf tea blend for sale on your store?
Yes! Definately, if you have discovered a new favorite blend let us know and we just might feature it on TommyTea. For suggestions and comments, please email using our contact form.
  3. Do you offer wholesale?
  4. No, not at this time. If you have a special idea let us know on our contacts page, we are considering different affiliate programs at the moment but would be willing to discuss wholesale as well.
  5. How much will 2oz. of loose leaf tea make?
2 oz. will brew an average of 30 cups, even more depending on your steeping preferences and how strong you like your loose leaf tea. This amounts to roughly 17 cents a cup for most of our loose leaf teas! Outstanding value!
  6. How should I store my loose leaf tea?
A quality loose leaf tea will last roughly 2-3 weeks outside an air sealed container, it begins to lose its potency and bouquet after that period. It is best to keep your tea in an air sealed container and out of direct sunlight. In this way the proper flavors can last up to a year in storage.
  7. How do I make tea using the different tea pots and infusers you sell?
For most of the strainers, simply boil your water, add the tea to the strainer and let steep for the recommended time. Then remove the strainer and the tea and the infusion is ready to enjoy. Refer to our loose leaf tea preperation page for more details on other methods.
  8. How do I make iced tea?
Most iced tea recipees call for double brewing your tea. Simply brew twice as much tea as you would for the hot variety and repeat to fill your pitcher. Add sweetener to your tastes, personally I don't like any sugar added. After your pitcher is filled you can add ice or refrigerate.
  9. How much tea do you get for the price listed?
Prices reflect 2oz. of tea in most cases. Be aware, rarer varieties such as the Prized Izu Matcha reflects 1oz, but these variences will always be properly listed.
  10. How much does shipping cost?
We currently offer a single flat rate of $2.83 for US Postal 1st class shipping to provide the most value to the customer. This rate is subject to change and we are exploring other methods of shipping in search of the best value.
