Check out this ingenious design for a tea stick infuser by Chiasso. I love to travel, travel frequently and try to travel frugally. I always lament not being able to take my favorite green tea, or black tea. The other day I was in D.C. and stopped for a tea at a local cafe, I succumbed to convenience and had a bagged green tea. All I could think about was how lousy the tea was and how spoiled my tea tastes had become with quality loose leaf teas always available. . I usually travel light and opt out of taking my quality green tea on trips because of the inconvenience of infusing devices, they are messy and are not too appropriate for the road. I have had reports that that the loose leaf teas, upon infusion, have been expanding to such a size as to completely fill the tea ball infusers, and in one case even expanding so much as to burst the infuser! A green tea, like our gunpowder green can expand to unexpected sizes! To get the most from your loose leaf tea the leaves must have room to expand. Too much tea is being placed inside the infuser. Depending on what method you are using to brew your loose leaf tea, be sure to leave enough room for the leaves to unfurl so that the full body of flavors can be released. Some loose leaf teas unfurl and expand quite dramatically like the popular gunpowder green tea varieties. To Cream Or Not To Cream!
When and which teas should one add milk or cream to? Tough to answer as it will be based on your own likes and dislikes. Myself, I enjoy adding cream to flavored black tea or tea blends on occasion, it seems to enhance or pull out the flavors, smoothing them a bit to add to my enjoyment. I never add cream or milk to green teas, whites, oolongs, and rarely to herbals because I feel the cream no longer enhances but detracts from the distinct, subtle, clean flavors these teas offer.
